Franklin, Tennessee relocation guide

Historic Downtown Franklin

This is not a decorative downtown preserved for visitors. Main Street still functions as Franklin’s civic and cultural center.

16 historic blocks

Franklin kept a center worth returning to.

Buildings dating as far back as the late 1700s frame boutiques, restaurants, galleries and local institutions. The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Main Street carries a Great American Main Street designation.

For movers, downtown also creates a specific housing choice: walkability and architectural character versus the maintenance, price and limited supply that often accompany older central neighborhoods.

Main Street Franklin Tennessee

What becomes part of regular life.

Franklin Theatre

Opened in 1937 and restored as a multipurpose venue for movies, concerts and stage events.

First Friday Art Crawl

A recurring downtown evening event connecting galleries, businesses and visitors around the historic core.

Major festivals

Main Street Festival, PumpkinFest, Dickens of a Christmas and other events periodically transform the downtown streets.

Walkable errands—selectively

Downtown living can put coffee, restaurants and local retail on foot, but most Franklin households still rely on a car for broader regional life.
